Weeping with Those Who Weep – March 12, 2025
When wave after wave of hard news hits us, how do we respond? Is our initial response to keep going like nothing has happened? Do we give up, overwhelmed by despair? Do we get angry? Jesus’ unwavering trust and confidence in God’s sovereignty strengthened Him when He and His friends faced tragedy. He came alongside Martha and Mary in their grief, sharing their pain and loss, and then He showed Himself strong on their behalf. Let us learn to do the same.
When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” – John 11:33-36
Prayer: Jesus, turn us to You in the midst of confusion and grief, so that like You, we can minister to others with love and compassion. In Your name we pray, Amen.
